


Gear Up is a science and technology manual created in 2019 from the dream of a group of students who believed in making learning more accessible, practical, and fun through the use of recyclable materials or easy-to-find components. Even before becoming a manual, the project already had a greater purpose: to bring robotics to students throughout our community.
It was from this ideal that the Light-Powered Robot was born, a proposal that combines creativity, sustainability, and technology. It is a low-cost cart, costing approximately R$10, developed with the goal of using as many simple and easy-to-find materials as possible. More than a technological experiment, the project encourages critical thinking and awakens skills and talents that many students did not even know they had.
Trajectory







In 2020, amid the pandemic, Formula Maker was created, an update to the Gear Up project, with the goal of maintaining robotics learning even in remote education, bringing technology to the community through the use of recyclable materials, aimed at elementary school children, promoting accessibility, creativity, and sustainable awareness.

In 2021, the Form Maker project continued to be developed, continuing the initiative started in 2020. Based on the experiences of the first year, the modules were improved, making the activities more structured and educational. The project began to focus even more on practical learning, encouraging autonomy, creative thinking, and the application of robotics concepts in an accessible way. As a result, Formula Maker strengthened its educational impact and expanded its reach within the community.






During 2022, High Tech emerged, a new module aimed at high school students, with more complex areas of programming and engineering. The activities began to address more advanced technical challenges, stimulating the development of logical thinking in programming, problem solving, and the practical application of basic engineering concepts.


Throughout 2023, Gear Up Artes was developed, a new version focused on the integration of art and technology. This stage was designed to stimulate creativity through activities that combine artistic expression and technological concepts, making learning more engaging. It expanded the possibilities of the project, demonstrating that robotics and technology can be tools for creation, experimentation, and expression.



Gear Up is an educational program that seeks to make STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fields more accessible and attractive. It offers a manual with 15 low-cost projects, aiming to disseminate knowledge in these areas to young people, especially in public schools, thus broadening their horizons and opportunities. With the purpose of driving positive transformation in the world by inspiring new generations, we seek to develop essential skills and cultivate the creative thinking necessary to build a more promising and sustainable future for all.
About Gear Up





During 2024, we expanded into the LEGO Gear Up project, developed to adapt our projects to LEGO materials. This version focused on teaching engineering and assembly concepts in a practical and accessible way, allowing students to explore structures, mechanisms, and technical solutions through construction. It reinforced hands-on learning, stimulating logical thinking, creativity, and understanding of basic engineering principles.

LORRAYNE BARBOSA
Em 2019 tivemos a oportunidade de aplicar o Gear Up na EE Visconde de Itaúna, durante essa aplicação conhecemos a Estudante Lorrayne Barbosa, que se encantou pelo projeto e com a ciência e tecnologia, ela se interessou tanto pela área que nos anos seguintes entrou na escola SESI Ipiranga (sede de nossa equipe) e logo após entrou na equipe, onde conseguiu sair do país pela primeira vez, devido à competição em São Francisco na Califórnia, onde, com o time, conseguiram conquistar um prêmio disputado com mais de 40 equipes.

ITAÚNA MAKER
Satisfied with the recurring applications and the positive impact that Gear Up had on its students, the Visconde de Itaúna State School took a step further by creating the “Itaúna Maker” space, an environment designed and developed especially for the application of projects focused on science, technology, and innovation. This space has become a meeting point for practical learning, stimulating creativity, experimentation, and student leadership.
Recognizing the educational value of the activities, the school took the initiative to purchase new Robô de Luz kits, expanding the scope of the project and making its application recurring among different classes.

Antônio Linhares Guerra

Gear Up broke through the borders of São Paulo to bring transformation and technology to Itabira, in the interior of Minas Gerais. In an impactful initiative at Antônio Linhares Guerra State School, and thanks to a strategic partnership with Rockwell Automation, we made it possible to deliver more than 140 robotics kits.
More than just delivering equipment, our focus was on leaving a legacy: we trained more than 30 teachers, ensuring that the school has the autonomy to perpetuate learning and continue inspiring new classes.
The institution's director, Fabrício Oliveira Lima, highlighted how the project was a game changer:
"Until we learned about Gear Up, we were looking for a way to implement educational robotics. We tested alternatives that, although interesting, were financially unfeasible. The Robonáticos team's project provided an accessible and realistic solution. The training proved the importance of the program in practice: students who previously had low engagement became completely involved. Without a doubt, the project changed our students' view of technology and redefined how we maintain technological education initiatives at our school."

SESI-SP STUDENTS
In 2019, the year Gear Up was launched, the project was first implemented at the SESI–Ipiranga school, headquarters of the Robonáticos team, involving a fifth-grade class. This initial implementation marked not only the beginning of the project, but also the start of a journey of educational and personal transformation for many students.
Over time, the impacts of Gear Up have become even more evident. Currently, within the Robonáticos team itself, we have members who had their first contact with robotics and technology through Gear Up in 2019. These students not only remained engaged, but continue to be transformed by the project to this day, developing technical skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership.
Thus, Gear Up is no longer just a one-off activity but has become a continuous cycle of learning, inspiration, and growth, demonstrating its potential to generate lasting impacts on student development and the construction of a solid culture of technological education.

Itaúna Maker

LORRAYNE BARBOSA
In 2019, we had the opportunity to implement Gear Up at EE Visconde de Itaúna, where we met student Lorrayne Barbosa, who was enchanted by the project and by science and technology. She became so interested in the field that in the following years she enrolled at SESI Ipiranga school (our team's headquarters) and soon after joined the team, where she was able to leave the country for the first time to compete in San Francisco, California, where, with the team, they won a prize contested by more than 40 teams.
